If you live in some
country in Europe close enough to Spain you could consider the train option
or even the bus option. However, plane tickets are relatively cheap nowadays
so you’re probably better off buying a plane ticket and shortening
the time of traveling by more than half. Once you’re in Spain, enjoy!!
;-)
You might also want to travel within Spain and that’s why you’re
here looking for information about train and bus options in Spain. Car
Rental is your other option, but it is often more pricey and the rental
car will become your responsibility. On the other hand, you won’t
be subject to train or bus schedules. However, Spain has a great train
system with lots of combinations. Buses are great too, although probably
not as comfortable as trains. The great advantage of taking a bus is that
many times the trip is a bit shorter than by train, especially when traveling
within mountainous areas. Whatever decision you make, you will probably
have a good experience, plus you get to see the beautiful and different
landscapes!
In Spain there is only one company that takes care of train traveling:
RENFE. It’s actually government owned and it’s not bad at
all! RENFE has different kinds of trains: all of the passenger trains
are quite fast, but Renfe also offers a few services on the high speed
train called AVE. This train goes at 350 km/hr (about 217 miles/hour).
Below you will find information about RENFE, a list of bus companies that
travel around Spain and information about the subway service (METRO) in
Madrid and Barcelona:
